Sunday, May 31, 2009 { 11:44 PM }

For once, i'd like to wake up early simply just because i can't sleep any longer. I'm tired of waking obscene hours just for work/school/some other reason.

I did a really smart thing at work today. Before seeing the notice to thaw out the fridge and buy pineapples i went on a cleaning spree of the shop since there wasn't any customers the past hour and swept and mopped the whole shop. Just when I was thawing out the fridge, I knocked over my bottle coke and proceeded to open in immediately resulting in coke spraying all over the floor. *claps twice* so smart of me.

Anyhow I'm tired, another long day at school tmr and possibly oreo cheesecake at night.

p.s. althea, apparently the cheesecake wasnt that big after all =p

We actually blew $300 today on groceries, wonder how long it'll last this time round lol. Bought quite a fair bit of things to decorate our house with and even some wine glasses and fondue to enjoy with =p

Anyway decided to try my hand at cheesecakes again since I'd need desserts to get me thru the assignments and I'm not a huge fan of snacking nor chocos.

Blueberry Cheesecake (recipe courtesy of Philadelphia, I did the blueberry compote myself to improvise =p )

Blueberry compote

Photobucket
Make berry compote: Place sugar and 2 tablespoons of cold water in a small saucepan.
Photobucket
Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to high. Bring mixture to the boil. Cook for 3 minutes or until mixture thickens slightly.
Photobucket
Remove from heat. Stir in berries. Set aside.
Photobucket
Make cheesecake: Preheat oven to 325 Fahrenheit (approx 160 Celsius). Line 13 inch * 9 inch baking pan with foil extending over sides of pan. Mix graham crumbs and butter.
Photobucket
Press firmly onto bottom of prepared pan.
Photobucket
Beat cream cheese, sugar, flour and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add sour cream; mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition just until blended. Pour over crust.
Photobucket
Bake 40 to 45 min. or until centre is almost set.
Photobucket
Cool completely.
Photobucket
Add berry compote. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight. Remove cheesecake from pan using foil handles. Store leftover cheesecake in refrigerator.

Ima gonna take a short break and blog before I get started on my report coz me thinks me blog is too dead. lol

Anyway been busy the past 2-3 weeks with reports, got 2 major assignments due every week since week 11 and they're mostly due on the same day so it's quite a killer. Managed to chiong my report and presentation stuff the other day and was so tired that I pretty much fell asleep while typing and although what I typed was proper sentences, it didn't exactly fit into my project -.- Had to present while I was on sleep deprivation and I hope it managed to work out in the end.

Presentations this sem is really last minute but thankfully it kinda worked. 2 hours before previous Friday's presentation, we still haven't decided who was talking and who wasnt. 6 hours before Tuesday's presentation and we haven't even figured out what we're going to talk about. Pretty much got the data and all but other than that nothing was done.

Had a rather fun 2 nights at brissy and it'll be fun to do it again. But alas with exams and all coming up, it seems rather impossible.

Weather has cleared up the past few days. Thankfully. Coz it's really depressing and kinda makes me really grumpy having to walk half hour to Pac Fair in stormy rains. For a moment I was worried some tree brunch would fall on me and I'd be left to die there coz my phone was out of credits and I doubt I'd be in the position to text if anything happens. *touch wood* Kinda crappy being rained on every time I left the house or somewhere. Doesn't help that leaving work 1/2 hour early was a really bad decision coz if I left work at the stipulated time, I won't have walked in the rain.

Classes today was alright, thank God for Fridays and uni bar. Had usual lunch and beer with Marc and Tsuey and it was really fun! =)

Heard some news which I felt was really childish and unnecessary. Why can't people grow up?

Tried beer-battered fish again the other night and I'm not too sure what's in the batter since kor did it but I'd just briefly go through the process =p

First start with fish fillets (we just thawed frozen fish)
Photobucket

Then flour,

Photobucket

All purpose seasoning, black pepper and salt to season the fish later,

Photobucket

The batter,

Photobucket

Obviously we couldn't miss out the most important ingredient =)

Photobucket

Bread crumbs

Photobucket

We got the home brand ones

Photobucket

Start by covering the fish fillet (dry with paper towel first) with flour, all purpose seasoning, black pepper and salt

Photobucket

Then dip into beer batter

Photobucket

Cover with bread crumbs and fry till golden brown

Photobucket

Dry oil off with paper towel

Photobucket

and serve =) notice how cute the mash potato are =p

On a random note, some photos taken whilst waiting for the bus

I know I'm supposed to be doing work, but posts from older blogs inspired me to do personality surveys again =p

Kind and Gentle

Your kindness is your charm - you are also gentle and sweet. Everybody likes to be around people with your personality. Like a psychologist, people like to talk to you to discuss their problems because you are proper and discrete, as well as confident. You look mature and people respect you. People with this kind of character are few and far between.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.
The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.
Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.
The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.
Your views on education
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.
The right job for you:
You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
How do you view success:
You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.
What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.
Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.
~~~~~~~~~~

Here is the analysis:

  1. You've got great self-confidence and you're full of charm. Most guys who get to know you will be attracted to you. You are far from sweet and proper; your intriguing personality fascinates them. Most guys find it easy to fall for a girl like you.
  2. You really care about other people's feelings and are quite serious about the issues that affect your life. You are sincere, and your concern for the well-being of others makes many people want to be your friend.
  3. You strictly follow rules, and you expect other people to be the same as well. People can get tired of you easily, as you can make them feel a little guilty about themselves. You always make decisions on your own, and can be dismissive of other people's advice. You like to be the leader in groups, but can forget to be concerned about the people you are with.
  4. Your peers think of you as a fun person, but sometimes you can be a little irresponsible. You can be somewhat childish, and can try to ignore the fact that you will one day need to really grow up and be a mature adult! Perhaps you could start reading good books; they might help you look at the world in a different light. You do want to be taken seriously, right?
  5. Your boyfriend believes that you are a strong and independent person. Your confidence and cheerfulness make you an attractive person to be around, but sometimes you need to pay more attention to what other people, including your boyfriend, are thinking.

Met Tsuey in school today for coffee, which was quite disastrous for me since the coffee spilled on me. Totally not my fault since I didn't know the cover came out =( Anyhow she was telling me I looked different from the pictures on Althea's wall and I thought, why not do a post with my past photos and all. Found quite a few, well rather 'amusing' photos which unfortunately you won't get to see today because I've decided to post on something else =p So till then, save your laughter.

Went to twilight market again the other night, pretty much the same ol' boring stuff but amazingly enough, something actually caught our eyes! Having a cast of your hands is quite common in Singapore, if memory doesn't fail me, they have/had those wax cast thing in vivo, just outside giant. So anyhow, we saw somehow getting a cast of his face! How amazing is that? Subjecting yourself to 'torture' for a good 20 minutes in front of everyone just to have a cast of your face for you to admire forever? Maybe it'll be a good heirloom? haha, okay I'm just being mean, but the whole process was rather interesting.

Firstly the guy had to pretend to submerge his face into the bowl you see below (it was orginally empty) to see if he can hold his breath for 30 sec. After that the owner filled the bowl with water, covered the front of the guy's shirt with clingwrap, which personally I felt was rather useless coz he got wet anyway. Okay, so the guy had to submerge his head in water this time, even wetting his hair and all. After the 30 sec was up, he was given some shampoo to cover his hair with so that the jelly won't stick to his hair I think. Meanwhile, the owner prepares this mixture of jello which was a cute purple colour when still watery.

Photobucket

As you can see, the guy was preparing to submerge his head again for the last time.

Photobucket

Meanwhile we were admiring the other handiworks.

Photobucket

Ready.... set.... go!

Photobucket

tick tock, tick tock

Photobucket

And tada! I know you can't see much from here but the jello turned to a light pink colour, and it has the guy's face imprinted in it.

Photobucket

Anyway, end of the face cast story, as we were nearing the end of the market we saw the cutest dog ever! I've seen it most times we went the twilight market but I never did realise (or probably don't remember =p) that one of them had the cutest heart shape print on it.

Photobucket

We didn't manage to get a clear shot but isn't it just the cutest thing ever?

Photobucket

On another random note, we decided to try cooking our kangaroo meat last saturday. It was alright but next time we should either thaw it much earlier, or just cook it when we buy it from the supermart. Somehow it was still kinda tough although it was a nice medium rare.

Photobucket

Roast vegetables! yummy the pumpkin was really sweet!

Photobucket

Kangaroo meat. Seriously don't ewwww me, it's not as sinful (to me) as eating dog's meat and if memory doesn't fail me, they actually promote eating kangaroo meat as they are too many roo's around.

Photobucket

Fried rice, cooked by kor. Somehow I think I cant cook fried rice for nuts. So much for if you can't cook a proper fried rice, you can't be a chef.

Photobucket

French toast brekkie yesterday =)

Photobucket

Dinner at Amimoto with darling Althea last night =) Pictures just for you Ian =p

Photobucket

And what's better than one chirashi sushi?

... wait for it...

...wait for it...

it's 2 chirashi sushi! =) yummy!

Photobucket

Happy with dinner for the night =)

Photobucket

Definately my favourite
