Went up to Brisbane for a little fun during the weekends, it was rather interesting and I won $4 at the casino haha.

Suntanned a little yest, but turns out it's quite uneven, even my left arm's darker than my right arm.

Projects submission soon, shall spend tonight doing up my assignments. Meanwhile it's time to snack.

Four Management Lessons

Lesson Number One

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, 'Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?'

The crow answered: 'Sure, why not.'

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Management Lesson: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Lesson Number Two

A turkey was chatting with a bull.

'I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree,' sighed the turkey, 'but I haven't got the energy. 'Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull. 'They're packed with nutrients.'

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Management Lesson: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson Number Three

When the body was first made, all the parts wanted to be Boss. The brain said, 'I should be Boss because I control the whole body's responses and functions.'

The feet said, 'We should be Boss as we carry the brain about and get him to where he wants to go.' The hands said, 'We should be the Boss because we do all the work and earn all the money.' And so it went on and on with the heart, the lungs and the eyes until finally the asshole spoke up.

All the parts laughed at the idea of the asshole being the Boss. So the asshole went on strike, blocked itself up and refused to work. Within a short time the eyes became crossed, the hands clenched, the feet twitched, the heart and lungs began to panic and the brain fevered. Eventually they all decided that the asshole should be the Boss, so the motion was passed.

All the other parts did all the work while the Boss just sat and passed out the shit!

Management Lesson: You don't need brains to be Boss, any asshole will do!

Lesson Number Four

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold, the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out!

He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard he bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him!

Management Lessons:

1. Not everyone who drops shit on you is your enemy.
2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3. When you're in deep shit, keep your mouth shut!

SANAA (Reuters) - A Yemeni court ordered the marriage of an eight-year-old girl terminated on Tuesday because she had not reached puberty.

The court also ordered the child's family to pay about $250 in compensation to the 30-year-old ex-husband.

The girl's lawyer and human rights activist Shatha Nasser said the minor had filed a suit in April asking for divorce and told the court that her husband had been physically abusing her and forcing her to have "sex with him after hitting her."

One of the people attending the trial volunteered to pay the compensation, the lawyer said, but did not explain the reason why the court ordered the compensation.

The ruling terminated the marriage instead of granting a divorce to prevent the husband from seeking to reinstate the marriage, according to the lawyer.

Many minor girls in Arab countries that observe tribal traditions are married to older husbands but not before puberty. Such marriages are also driven by poverty in countries like Yemen, one of the poorest countries outside Africa.

who in the right mind would sell their 8 year old daughter to a 30 year old man? and to think he wants to have sex with her and all. it's just so wrong.

LONDON (Reuters) - Can man's best friend be replaced by a prickly pal the size of your palm?

Busy British pet lovers have been buying hedgehogs, whose nocturnal habits make them appealing to the modern worker because they wake in the evening when their owners arrive home after a day in the office.

Although Britain has its own wild breed of hedgehogs, the latest pet craze focuses on African pygmy hedgehogs -- a cross between Algerian and white-bellied hedgehogs.

"They are unbelievably pretty little creatures, the way they bumble along, the way they poke their noses into everything," British hedgehog breeder Bonnie Martin told Reuters.

Initial costs for the animal and accompanying equipment can run to 300 pounds ($591). But hedgehogs, who can survive on cat food, are cheaper to feed because they eat a third of the household cat's daily diet, Martin said.

"People will travel vast distances to get them in order to get them from reputable breeders...there's about eight to 10 serious breeders in the UK. It takes a lot of traveling in order to get a good hog," said Martin, who has sold two litters already and has a waiting list for the rest of the year.

But animal conservationists said the trend poses a serious threat to the declining population of Britain's native wild hedgehogs, which last year made the government's species protection list.
British Hedgehog Preservation Society trustee Kay Bullen said the expense of buying rare types of hedgehog could tempt people to lure a cuddly British cousin in from the garden.
"Why buy that when you can get one for nothing from the wild?" she told Reuters.

The impact from poaching on the wild hedgehog population could be greater in the next month if mothers are removed from their litters during the Spring breeding season, Bullen said.
"The babies will die without their mum," she said. "They're completely dependent for four weeks."

Bullen also said that the introduction of a foreign species could cause a secondary wildlife problem if pet owners who tire of their hedgehogs attempt to release them into the wild.
"People will probably think they can exist in our country, but I don't know if they can."

I don't get it, what's with the screaming, the horning of cars by the guys here? Haven't they seen girls before?

The beach was rather good today. Would be better if I got a tan and if there were photos haha. Managed to do some reading so it's all good. Lunch at fisco's was good as well, fish and chips and it's really filling. They had this beeper thing which will go off when your meal/drink's ready which I think it's so cool. At least there's no blockages while waiting for food and you can just wait at your table. Interesting concept.

I want to go UK, NZ etc to work already. Imagine being a nanny for 3 months or something? That'll be so cool man.

Mid sem next week, wish me luck =D

Nothing like mini crossiants for breakfast...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back from presentation, frankly it didn't go as well as I wanted but I guess I'd have to live with it. Hopefully I don't get marked down too much.
Off for lunch.
{ 3:19 AM }
Was in a rather good mood today despite the oh so gloomy weather. Headed for tutorial slightly late just to realise we have to form groups and present topic regarding theme parks as the 2 out of the 3 panelist dropped out and the poor girl didn't know till the tutor informed her. Luckily mine was as rude as that, at least they messaged me.
Anyway I surprised myself by volunteering to present our part on Partnership & Alliances. Well, in a way it wasn't much of a choice since our group only had 3 of us and 1 of them was the official panelist for the day. Still, I couldn't believe I'd actually say I'd do it.
Kinda made a fool of myself since I totally didn't prepare myself, while others were writing their scripts during the time others were presenting, I was busy listening to them. At the very least I made them listen and it was encouraging to see heads nodding in agreement. It was a little warm up for tomorrow's presentation, just do your best estee!
Got back 1 of my 2 assignments, and my my, i got 8/10. Sweet~ The tutor said I showed exceptional critical thinking in most of my journal but I did miss one or two parts which wasn't that bad since I did it in 2 nights. Still, no more procrastinating girl, I'm expecting 10/10 for your next submission. At least my dreams of getting HD is rather high for this module. Don't get complacent and keep it up!
Finalised our HRM project brief, to my surprise they are using my project brief with minor admendments as they think it was rather good. The funny part is that they were saying I'm usually so quiet during meetings and yet I produced such a good project brief. They were teasing that I was laughing at how stupid they were behind their back, which seriously I wasn't.
To me there wasn't any point disagreeing with them on the spot, and since we all had to do a draft, why not show what I can produce? Also I didn't want them to think I'm so quiet and I don't do work, therefore riding on their marks. I will work for my HD!
Anyway time for bed, presentation tomorrow. Wish me luck. Tag if you're free *muacks*
Sunday, April 6, 2008 { 11:20 AM }
Rain rain go away.
Estee wants to go to the beach and play.
Friday, April 4, 2008 { 10:18 PM }
I finally managed to submit my assignment on time and hopefully it's good. Abit ambitious though but I'm aiming for HDs and Distinctions. I didn't come all this way just to fail. Play hard, study hard.
Still feeling the effect from the lack of sleep, but all's good. Just hoping I won't be falling sick due to the weather.
Cooked a rather big portion of pasta today, guess I misjudged again. Still I think I'm eating rather alot lately? I pig out almost every other hour.
My cucumber, tuna, onion pasta =D
My teammates really withdrew from the course so hopefully the tutor can get back to me soon regarding my assignment. I'd rather present alone seriously.
Hope all's well with you guys *muacks*
Thursday, April 3, 2008 { 9:46 AM }
2nd night in a row without sleep. HOW TO SURVIVE LIKE THAT???
Apparently coffee helps alot and time passes really fast when you do work through the night. I should do that once a week and I can play the rest of the week! Not that work has stopped me so far except the last 2 nights.
It's almost 10 and I'm still rather awake. Let's see if I can still say this when I'm at tut later. Decide I shall stay in to finish up my work since my group mates have kindly decided to withdraw from the class last night, leaving me no other group mates nor choice, I shall just count on my own work.
We only had one tut so far and they've already formed groups. You think anyone would say "hi you dont have a group? that sucks, join us?" *pish*
Back to work, I doubt I'd make anymore sense if I carry on ranting here.
Cheers
Wednesday, April 2, 2008 { 7:11 PM }
Stupid me didnt realise I got 2 assignments due tomorrow till 1) mon night and 2) today. I feel so screwed.
Ended up enjoying the sun rise from the school's computer lab which made me wonder why am I so crazy to not sleep at all? Slept about 7am, woke up about 10am and I'm not planning to sleep at all tonight.
Since when has Estee been so hardworking? (when she stupidly realises she has assignment due 2 days later -.-)
It's quite irritating having to reference to journal articles and all. I hate it.
And one of my proj mates just dropped the course, and the other mentioned he wanted to drop it today. Hello? What am I supposed to do?
I'm starting to feel as if my former self's coming back. The smiles, the laughter. No more hiding behind those big sunglasses and ipod.
where's the love people?
